Flashpoint Catch up 5 - Abin Sur - The Green Lantern 1

I love all things Green Lantern (except the film which I only liked) and this Flashpoint tie in concerns the alien who in his death passed the green lantern ring and mantle of protector of Space Sector 2814 to Hal Jordan.  But as this is Flashpoint that, for reasons unknown, never happened and Abin Sur is still alive and the Green Lantern.

Flashpoint Catch Up 4 - Batman Knight of Vengeance 1

Only read this if you have read Flashpoint 1.

Flashpoint Catch Up 3 - Secret Seven 1

This Flashpoint had me under false pretences (abeit of my own doing).  I assumed that the Secret Seven of Flashpoint might be like the Secret Six of the old DCU.  This issue however deals with Shade and the Enchantress as they…well I’m not sure what was going on to be honest.  I’m not even sure as this issue stands what the relevance to Flashpoint actually was.

Flashpoint Catch Up 2 - Flashpoint 1

Ok so after reading Booster Gold 44 it’s onto Flashpoint 1.  The flagship mega event title and to be fair I read this comic after catching up on X-men: Schism, Spider Island and Fear Itself (that’s right 3 events from Marvel in one summer) so I might have been suffering from event fatigue.

What do you mean you haven't read: Superman Red Son

Mark Millar's Superman: Red Son is a 3 issue prestige format Elseworlds story (non-canonical tale freeing the writer to do to whatever they want with well established characters). It mines the simple idea of what would have happened if the rocket from Krypton carrying baby Kal-El had arrived 12 hours earlier and landed in a farming collective in the Urals instead of Smallville USA.

Flashpoint Catch Up 1 - Booster Gold 44

Booster Gold 44 I’m reliably informed is where you should start reading Flashpoint.  I didn’t read Flashpoint but with all these new DCnU titles I felt I should read this then read the new titles to see what’s going on.

Daken Wolverine Vol 1 - Empire

Daken (the comic books protagonist) is the son of Wolverine.  Cut from his dying mother’s womb and raised by Wolverine's nemesis Romulus.  Daken Vol 1 Empire picks ups after Marvels crossover event Siege and the end of the regular monthlies Dark Wolverine and Wolverine Origins.

The Goon Vol 1 - Nothin but Misery

I didn’t know what to expect with The Goon Vol 1 – Nothing but Misery.  I didn’t know the premise.  All that I knew was my brother liked it and Forbidden Planet International had it in cheap in a solicitation at the start of the year.  So I ordered it and alone it sat on my bookshelf, unread for probably 4-5 months.  Feeling suitably depressed as yet another injury threatens to force myself into early retirement from Sunday league football, I sought solace in something different to read.  So I picked it up.

The Rinse #1 - Review

I used to teach people Money Laundering regulations.  I would have a room of 10-20 people and take them through the process of how people take money from the proceeds of crime and re-invest legally over and over again until you had what appeared to be clean money.
