I love all things Green Lantern (except the film which I only liked) and this Flashpoint tie in concerns the alien who in his death passed the green lantern ring and mantle of protector of Space Sector 2814 to Hal Jordan. But as this is Flashpoint that, for reasons unknown, never happened and Abin Sur is still alive and the Green Lantern.
The story background is where both the Black Lanterns and Manhunters are pitched against the Green Lanterns and Abin Sur must go to Earth to grab the White Lantern. Having not read Blackest night yet it doesn't go too deep into this that I must have a working knowledge of what happened there. However as this is an alternative universe it shouldn't need to.
I'm not familiar with the name Andy Schlagman but he does enough here as the writer to suggest he both knows how to write a comic touched with some strongly emotional scenes and knows the GL mythos. The story is just a pure set up and I came away wanting to know how whatever has changed in the DC Universe to bring about this change of GL managed to stop Abin Sur dying. Unfortunately no clues are given so it does make me want to read another issue more than the other 4 books I've read so far.
The art by Felipe Massafera is solid enough but for some reason he has drawn the annoying bubble domes from the GL film onto the guardians head. This might be ok if at some point later it is revealed that the person that caused Flashpoint also super glued some fish bowls to their bright blue bonces. It also appears now that Mark Strong plays Sinestro in the comics too which must make him a seriously overworked actor right now.
All in all pretty solid and ticked all the boxes for me as far as the Green Lanterns go.....but I just cant get the feeling that I wont find out how he is still alive out of my head.

Hmmm.... nice one! Should I try to read it? Because I'm not a fan of all comics.
